Welcome to the Orthodox Stitcher! Here you will find original, handcrafted cross stitch designs created with the Orthodox Christian in mind. The Orthodox Stitcher is an extension of Fearn Abbey Needleworks, where you will find more original cross stitch designs coming to you from the beautiful Northern Highlands of Scotland. My hope for The Orthodox Stitcher is that this will be a unique and blessed place for Orthodox Christians ~ and indeed, anyone who feels called to visit and stay awhile ~ to develop their creative side, and to honor God. Glory to God for all things!

PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY TO AFR

Much of the art and design you see on this blog is a labor of love and given to you absolutely free. It is my attempt to glorify God and share Christ with those who visit. If you particularly feel called to generosity, though, and wish to give money for anything you take or share, please make your donation to Ancient Faith Radio. AFR is an internet-based Orthodox ministry which is worldwide. They offer 24-hour-a-day, 365-days-a-year talk radio, music radio, podcasts, and blogs, all by and for Orthodox Christians, and for those interested in Orthodoxy. You can visit them HERE. And you can donate right on this blog via Paypal! Thank you so much for giving generously.

And To Start You Off...

Here is a little chart for you to have for free!  A little girl all ready for Spring and waiting for Pascha, complete with her basket, a bunny friend, and a handful of pussy-willows.  I hope you have fun stitching her.  Feel free to comment when you have finished her.  I would be happy to post your stitching, if you like!

The colors are any red, yellow, green, blue, brown of your choice (I used DMC 666, 973, 792, 911, and 869), along with bright white (DMC B5200), black (DMC 310), and ecru.  Use 2 strands for cross stitches AND the long-stitched pussy willow branches.  Use one strand for her mouth, DMC 356.  Make French knots in black for the girl's eyes and the bunny's eyes.  Make French knots in ecru, using 2 strands and wrapping twice around needle, for the pussy-willows.

[NOTE:  Normally, my charts are made as PDF downloads, complete with instructions and keys. This little free chart was done up in a hurry for you, and I wanted you to have her before Pascha.]

Happy Spring, everyone!

Hello, and Welcome!

Springtime is the perfect time for branching out...literally! I am so excited about the direction my arts and crafts is taking. About a year and a half ago, I started Fearn Abbey Needleworks. Slowly but steadily, it has been growing. At the same time, my husband and I were very close to becoming received into the Holy Orthodox Church. The two things really began to converge to the point where my subject matter for my designs was at least half Orthodox Christian in nature, and always completely wholesome.

For many months, it has been on my heart to create a separate but attached branch of Fearn Abbey Needleworks, dedicated to designs specifically with Orthodox Christians in mind. My husband and I talked about it. I thought about it and prayed about it. The name stuck with me and wouldn't leave my heart and mind:  The Orthodox Stitcher.  That's what I was...what I am. I felt compelled to go with it.

So, I've jumped off into the blue, and this little blog launches my separate-but-joined line of stitching. To start with, these designs will be available in my current Etsy shop (see button on sidebar). We'll see where it goes from there.

My hope and dream is that this will become a place for stitchers to meet and glorify God. Please check back often as I add designs and build this site. Meanwhile, feel free to click around on the my sidebar and see where the links take you.

Thanks for stopping by...

Your prayers are appreciated!
